Depression - Why do so many people in this day and age feel depressed? Depression is becoming more and more popular than that of the plague in the days of yesterday where people had reason to feel down living in rat infested hovels and fearing Jack the Ripper. Rid yourself of depression to lead a healthy and happier lifestyle.

Think Positive and by doing this you will help yourself to be happier thus leaving you with a healthier frame of mind.

Do you need an attitude re-adjustment? If you find yourself feeling pretty low (suffering from depression) almost all of the time and thinking of every excuse under the sun for your misery except yourself, you may need some adjustment in your attitude! If your outlook on life is a bit jaded. Try these tips to help overhaul your thinking and put things into perspective.

1 Teach yourself to recognize any negative thoughts as they enter your head and let them go immediately. Don't ponder on them. Be in control of your thoughts, don't let them control you.

2 Remind yourself every day of all the blessings you have in your life. Writing them down helps, you will be amazed just how lucky you are even if you don't feel it at the moment.

3 Spend time with other people who have a good attitude towards life. Being positive is infectious, if those around you feel good, you will too.

On the other hand don't spend time with negative people, this is infectious in the same way and you've got better things to do.

People in depression mode can certainly have an affect on other folks, so more the reason to stay well clear of people who suffer from the blues all the time (Unless they are a genuine case)

4 Look after yourself. If you are eating healthily and taking exercise regularly the benefits of looking good on the outside will soon have you feeling better on the inside. Take a few minutes every day to de-stress and relax, preferably outside, nature is a great healer.

5 Volunteer to help with charity work. By spending time with others a lot less fortunate than you can be a very sobering and rewarding experience.

6 Overhaul your living space. Surround yourself with things that mean something positive to you, photographs of loved ones or souvenirs of good times. Throw out or recycle everything that brings back bad memories of hard times or lost loves.

Depression can disable a person in more ways that one where they have their highs and lows. With today’s modern medicines counseling and therapies patients suffering from depression are being treated successfully and making a full recovery.

7 If someone puts you down or reacts negatively to your aspirations, take it as a challenge and prove them wrong. Don't let others bitterness toward your success affect you, you only need to worry about your own mind and leave them to theirs.

8 Keep on going. Changing your mind set is a process that takes time; little by little you will feel your attitude altering. Stick with it and soon you won’t need to think about it, you will be a positive person enjoying life to the full!

If you have any health concerns causing you stress aside from that of depression you must consult your doctor.
